So the belated deadline for our acoustic guitar course is here. Naturally the Leonardo pair will be what I will be showing. The last few weeks have brought me quite close to having one of them already ready to rock your world!

Let's see what brought us here.
First after the base coat of PU lacquer vigorous sanding and a light layer of satin finish for a smooth and warm surface. This was my first work with the satin finish and I really enjoyed it and the result!
Then it was time to prepare for glueing the neck joint. Removal of any lacquer from under the fretboard was in order.

I chose leather glue for glueing the neck joint and the bridge.

And let it sit overnight while the glue does its work.

Time for the tuners to go on. Make sure to get it straight!

Finishing the bridges by rounding the edges and adding some some Osmo wax.

Preparations for fretting. For a fretboard with binding it is crucial to have an appropriate radius on the fret material as well as use tang nibblers and a file to finish the frets before hammering them on.

Now for the bridge. To find the right location use yarn to mimic strings to find the E and e strings. Then measure half of the scale from the 12th fret to the middle of your bridge nut at the e string. Then make sure the bridge is straight in relation to your saddle.
After this the bridge can be glued once the lacquer from under the location of the bridge needs to be removed and the radius of the top needs to be copied under the bridge.

Again the glue sat overnight and then string pins can be installed.

Then time for fretwork. In my opinion this is by far one of the most important things! And just as tricky sometimes.

And starting to shape the bridge nut and saddle. The fun part of this step is you get to put on the strings and hear some sounds :)

In honorable company on the red brick road

Thank you everyone for giving valuable feedback an advice!!
The tale will continue as the other of the pair gets finished, hopefully before 2017.
