There are quite many things to consider while making a slotted headstock with bindings.
So I made a list of things to do in order not to make the same mistakes as with the first one. One of the important things is to save routing out the slots until pretty much everything else is done, especially the holes for the tuners need to have been drilled.
So I started out by shaping the headstock to its final form with a router.

Then the routing for the bindings.

Naturally glueing the bindings follows.

Time to make some tools while the glue is drying. Something to help with clamping pressure when glueing the back veneer of the headstock and definitely something to help get the tuner holes placed correctly.

Some things remaining on my list like to level the bindings with the top of the headstock

Glueing on the veneer for the back, this is as we speak getting prepared by clamping the wood to shape overnight while wet and hot.

Drilling the tuner holes correctly this time(below you will see how it went with the slots already routed). Then routing the slots and finally glueing on the fingerboard.
So I promised to let you know how drilling through slots already routed went. To avoid tears around the holes and to get them straight I prepared something to fill the slots.

Careful placements, clamping and gathering the courage to drill the tuner holes on the non-exotic guitar headstock.

I went for it...

...am pleased with the result.

Funny how little things like routing a straight line and drilling some holes becomes the most thrilling thing in the world when making guitars as a rising luhtier.
Have a beautiful week folks!
