week 5, Leonardo GRP Ikaalinen

The week started with examination of the woods prepared, marking important measures and refining the pieces.

In the mean time I also had time to dig out the true nature of the curly birch piece I brought home from Fiskars. Treasure I say!

Next up was the preparation of the bottom seams.

Different woods got different glue treatment.

Then there was the start of the binding factory. First up preparation of attachement of some veneers to make multicolored bindings.

While the glue is drying there is time for other things so we practiced some bending methods,;

By hand: slower but less difficult to burn the wood.

With machine: A bit easier to burn the wood at least first time around.

Sawing shift at the binding factory, now this is some serious stuff no time for smiles.. :)
